Vincristine sulfate is administered exclusively by intravenous injection. It is a critical component of the CHOP regimen for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, MOPP and ABVD regimens for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and induction protocols for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in both children and adults. It is also used in Wilms’ tumor, neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, and Ewing’s sarcoma. The dose-limiting toxicity is peripheral neuropathy rather than myelosuppression, distinguishing it from most other chemotherapy agents. Intrathecal administration is absolutely contraindicated and invariably fatal. In veterinary oncology, vincristine is used in dogs for lymphoma (as part of the CHOP protocol) and transmissible venereal tumor.
