Vancomycin Hydrochloride (CAS 1404-93-9) is a glycopeptide antibiotic produced by Amycolatopsis orientalis (formerly Streptomyces orientalis). It has a complex tricyclic glycopeptide structure with the formula C₆₆H₇₅Cl₂N₉O₂₄·HCl (MW 1485.71). Vancomycin inhibits cell wall synthesis by binding to D-Ala-D-Ala terminus of peptidoglycan precursors. It is a last-resort antibiotic for MRSA and other resistant Gram-positive infections, and is on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines.

TCS Industries Limited, a Hong Kong-based trading and sourcing company, supplies Vancomycin HCl API in pharmaceutical grade for global procurement programs.

> Applications

Literature context for technical review includes a 2009 Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy journal study on vancomycin continuous-infusion nomograms in critically ill patients, with retrospective group n=70 and prospective validation group n=63 (doi: 10.1128/AAC.01149-08); procurement decisions still depend on buyer specification, destination-market rules and batch documentation.

MRSA and resistant Gram-positive infections

Vancomycin IV 15–20 mg/kg every 8–12 hours (target AUC/MIC 400–600) is the standard treatment for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteremia, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, and pneumonia. It is also used for Clostridium difficile colitis (oral, 125–500 mg QID). Rybak et al. (Am J Health Syst Pharm, 2009, 66:82–98) published the therapeutic monitoring guidelines for vancomycin recommending AUC/MIC-guided dosing to optimize efficacy and minimize nephrotoxicity in serious MRSA infections.

Surgical prophylaxis and oral C. difficile therapy

IV vancomycin is used for surgical prophylaxis in patients with MRSA colonization or beta-lactam allergy. Oral vancomycin (not absorbed systemically) achieves high luminal concentrations for C. difficile treatment. Intraperitoneal vancomycin is used in peritoneal dialysis-related peritonitis.

> Sourcing & Supply

TCS Industries Limited supports development, qualification and commercial purchasing discussions for Vancomycin HCl with buyers in South America, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Canada.

  • Evaluation quantities: target specification and document needs are reviewed before dispatch.
  • Commercial lots: repeat supply is arranged by specification, packaging and destination-market requirements.

> Quality & Documentation

Key specification parameters include assay (≥90.0% vancomycin B equivalents), related substances (CDP-1, vancomycin B crystalline degradation products), pH (2.5–4.5 in 5% solution), water content, heavy metals, residual solvents, endotoxin (for parenteral grade), and microbial limits. White to tan lyophilized or crystalline powder. Freely soluble in water. Identity by HPLC and IR. Meets USP (Vancomycin Hydrochloride), Ph.Eur. (Vancomycini hydrochloridum), and BP. COA and MSDS are standard.

> Packaging

Vancomycin HCl is a white to tan hygroscopic powder. Standard packaging includes double PE-lined foil bags in fibre drums (100 g, 500 g, 1 kg, or 5 kg). Store at controlled room temperature (15–25 °C). Protect from moisture. Shelf life is typically 36 months. Labels and documents are checked before dispatch.

> Pricing & MOQ

Pricing is quoted by specification, packaging, quantity and destination. Samples, kilogram lots and commercial quantities can be discussed according to project stage.

> Regulatory & Compounding Context

Vancomycin HCl is monographed in USP, Ph.Eur. (Vancomycini hydrochloridum), BP, and JP. FDA-approved in 1958 (Vancocin). On the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines and WHO Watch group antibiotics. Multiple generic approvals worldwide. Listed in the FDA IID for parenteral and oral dosage forms. DMF support available.

> FAQ

Why is AUC/MIC-guided dosing recommended?

Vancomycin efficacy against MRSA correlates with AUC/MIC ratio (target 400–600). Traditional trough-based monitoring (15–20 mg/L) has been replaced by AUC-guided dosing in 2020 revised guidelines. Bayesian pharmacokinetic software using 1–2 levels provides more accurate AUC estimation. This approach optimizes efficacy while reducing nephrotoxicity from excessive trough targeting.

What documents are available for Vancomycin HCl orders?

COA and MSDS are standard for commercial discussions. COO, packing list, invoice and other import-support documents can be arranged according to order scope.

Can TCS Industries Limited support Vancomycin HCl supply to South America?

Yes. We support B2B buyers in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname, subject to route and document review.

Do you support Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Canada?

Yes. These destinations can be reviewed for project supply, import documents, packaging and logistics planning before quotation.

What is Red Man Syndrome?

Vancomycin infused too rapidly (>10 mg/min) causes non-IgE-mediated histamine release, producing flushing, erythema, pruritus, and hypotension of the upper body (“red man syndrome”). It is prevented by infusing over ≥60 minutes (≥120 minutes for doses >1 g). Pretreatment with antihistamines is used for recurrent reactions. It is not a true allergy.

Can oral Vancomycin treat systemic infections?

No. Oral vancomycin is NOT absorbed systemically (bioavailability <5%). It is only effective for gastrointestinal infections (C. difficile colitis). For systemic MRSA infections, IV administration is required. Oral vancomycin should never be used as a substitute for IV vancomycin in bacteremia or deep-seated infections.

Can you arrange samples before commercial purchasing?

Samples or evaluation quantities may be reviewed for qualified buyers after target specification, application and destination-market requirements are clarified.

How is Vancomycin HCl packaged for export?

Packaging is confirmed by quantity and material properties. Typical options include foil bags, HDPE containers, fibre drums or palletized export packaging.

Can buyer-defined specifications be reviewed?

Yes. Send the specification, methods, impurity limits and required documents. TCS can review feasibility before confirming quotation and lead time.

What payment terms are normally used?

Standard payment is 100% T/T before dispatch unless a different arrangement has been approved for an established commercial account.

What lead time should buyers expect?

Lead time depends on stock, batch size, document scope and destination. Available stock can move faster; made-to-order programs require longer planning.

Is a DMF available?

Yes. TCS sources vancomycin HCl from fermentation-based manufacturers who maintain active DMFs with the FDA and ASMF/CEP with EMA. Parenteral-grade material with endotoxin testing is available. Off-patent with extensive generic competition. COA, stability data, and DMF reference letters provided.
